Project Overview

A simple and user-friendly mining application streamlines operations by managing assets, coordinating teams, and scheduling maintenance effectively. It boosts efficiency, reduces downtime, and offers valuable insights to support better decision-making, making it an essential tool for modern mining companies.

My Role in Transforming the Workflow

Working closely with my product owner, we had to digitize a paper-based workflow for a SaaS application in the mining and drilling industry, connecting supervisors, operators, and clients for streamlined task management and communication to improve efficiency and transparency.

The Most focused Part of the System

Operators had to handle several documents to record mining progress, which were then shared with supervisors before being sent to clients for approval. This process often caused repeated entries and delays.

Sample handwritten documents

We needed to create a digital system to record all mining details in one place, making it easier to reduce paperwork and improve communication between supervisors, operators, and clients.

We found that the current process uses a lot of paper, causing problems like lost documents, delays in sharing information, and errors in data. Our aim was to create a digital system to fix these issues and make the process smoother.

Goal

This transformation aimed to eliminate repetitive data entry, minimize document misplacement, and create a seamless flow of information across roles.”

So what did I bring to the table?

Tadaah!! The digitized worksheet

I thought, why not create a centralized document that can be edited until marked as complete? This would streamline the process and make it easily accessible to all users. The worksheet captures all mining progress details in one place.

Operator’s Editable Worksheet

Since operators work directly on-site, using digital devices should be simple and efficient. I made the worksheet process responsive and user-friendly to meet their needs.

How does the supervisor and Client sees?

The completed worksheets are displayed with status details, making it easy for both clients and supervisors to review and make decisions quickly.

So how did this helped the users?

The worksheet helped the users by providing a responsive data entry form for the operator, making it easier to fill out during the work site. The operator could edit the form multiple times before sending it. The supervisor could see the entire filled document with a status indicating whether it was pending review or approved, and this status could be updated. It also allowed the supervisor and operator to communicate any changes needed using the same worksheet. The client could view and approve the final sheet, ensuring everyone stayed informed and the process ran smoothly.
